You can find a map of emergency shelters in Suffolk County (some of which are pet friendly) here This map also has interactive tools to help you determine if you live in a storm surge zone, find your nearest shelter, and find the different kinds of shelter (general, pet friendly, special needs, functional needs) nearest you.

Here is a page describing the special needs & functional needs emergency shelters in Suffolk County.

This page describes the pet friendly emergency shelters.

And this page lists the items you should bring to a shelter, should you need to make use of one.

Everyone please be careful & stay safe!

Fall Get-Together!

Update: The date for this was changed to the 27th of October, and it was lovely! Thank you Hasty & Gail for a fun party.

Since our summer beach party was a bust, we’ve decided to hold a fall cocktail party at Hasty & Gail Habicht’s house.  It will be on Saturday, November the 10th, from 5-7pm. Please RSVP to the Ways & Means co chairs (Renee LaSala and Mary Reilly) and everyone attending should bring an appetizer to share.

Beach Cleanup

Today’s beach cleanup was a huge success. Thanks are due to organizer Marisela Staller and to everyone who showed up to help tidy our beautiful neighborhood beach. The beach roses were particularly lovely today, especially so without all that rubbish!
